Mitsubishi Electric is a Japanese manufacturer with over 50 years of experience in air conditioning. Their domestic split systems are widely regarded as among the most reliable, quietest and most efficient available — and are consequently among the most commonly specified products in the premium domestic installation market.
The main domestic product ranges
MSZ-AP Series
The AP series is Mitsubishi's entry-level domestic range and the most commonly installed residential product in the UK. Available in 2.0kW to 6.0kW capacities, it offers excellent reliability and efficiency at a sensible price point. The AP20VGK (2.0kW) through AP60VGK (6.0kW) cover the majority of domestic room sizes.
MSZ-AY Series
The AY series is Mitsubishi's premium domestic range, offering improved efficiency ratings, quieter operation (as low as 19dB on low fan speed), enhanced filtration and a sleeker indoor unit design. For bedrooms and living spaces where noise and aesthetics matter, the AY series is the preferred specification.
MSZ-LN Series
The LN 'Premium' series represents the top of Mitsubishi Electric's domestic wall-mounted range, with design-led aesthetics (available in multiple colour options including white, ruby red and onyx black), advanced air purification and the quietest operation in the range. Typically specified for high-specification homes where the indoor unit is intended to be visible as a design feature.
Multi-split outdoor units
Mitsubishi's MXZ series multi-split outdoor units serve 2–6 indoor units from a single outdoor unit. Mitsubishi publishes detailed approved combination tables — it's important that your installer specifies combinations from these tables to ensure performance and warranty compliance.
Warranty and registration
Mitsubishi Electric offers a 5-year parts and labour warranty on domestic products, extendable to 7 years by registering the installation on their website within 30 days. A reputable installer will complete this registration on the day of installation as standard.
The warranty requires annual servicing by a qualified engineer to remain valid. This is why a service plan is worth considering at installation stage, rather than trying to remember to book a service each year.
Finding a reputable installer
Mitsubishi Electric operates an 'M-Registration' scheme for certified installers. Registered installers have completed product training and are authorised to register warranty on behalf of the customer. Always check that your installer is properly F-Gas certified and carries appropriate liability insurance — these are legal requirements, not optional.
